Apologies if this has already beend posted but I have been recommended this game. My bro has it on his NGC and says it's mental.
I'm pretty sure it's also sold on the ps2 and xbox.
Just wanted to know if anyone else has played this game and recommends it or not (before I go spending £40 on it, the mistake I made with XIII)

cheers

I had it for the pc and it's pants imo. It got good reviews on the consoles but I feel that's more due to the lack of any good fps for consoles at that time. As far as it goes it's pretty mediocre but will kill a few hours if you can get it at a V. CHEAP price.

actually, i've just found out it's red faCTION 2. the front cover has a red fist on it.
Is this sequel very different or more of the same (ie still rubbish?)

Looks a reasonable game but i can't say i've played it...it's been out a while though (over a year). Check out the reviews at the above link. I haven't dabbled as it sponsors a Sky programme (SG1 I think) and it automatically makes me think the game must be a bit rubbish if it's being advertised like that...although like I say it's had decent reviews so check it out!

never played the sequel but I remember it going straight to the bargain bins when it came out on the pc.
If in doubt why not rent it out for an evening first to see if it's worth buying.

cheers everyone. It's £9.99 inc del inc VAT from play.com which is making it a tempting proposition...

Hi,

It's alright for a tenner I suppose....

You'll play thru it once and never touch it again. It gets extraordinarily tiresome and its destructible scenary gimmick is extremely linear and adds pretty much nothing to the gameplay. The bosses are also incredibly annoying and frequent, with little or no actual "level" to play thru in between them.

There are better games to spend a tenner on (tho admittedly they're aren't many FPs's on gamecube).

If you haven't got Metroid Prime, I'd put the money towards that instead. Or Timesplitters 2 (tho this a bit fiddly).

regards,

Red Faction 2 on the Xbox is a bit of a bore in one player mode Ok but not great.

But multiplayer split screen is awsome. Dont know about the PS version.
