Did anyone else order this Gift Set from Play and recieve it in terrible condition?

I just got mine through today and all the corners are crushed but that isnt really suprising when they sent it in a normal bubble wrap envelope, I thought that would have had at least the commen sense to send it in a cardboard box otherwise they are just asking for trouble.

I dont know what to do now though, should I just get a refund and order it from somewhere else or take the risk and get them to send a replacement?

apparently that happens a lot with play and boxsets, perhaps ordering from amazon would be better as they pack things in cardboard boxes.

Thanks for the advice, have just ordered it from Amazon and will just ask for a refund from Play.com, no point in getting a replacement from them anyway as they are out of stock and it would no doubt arrive damaged again.

i was quite lucky myself, i recently bought the hellraiser limited edition boxset, and play actually packed it in a box!! the box was smaller than the boxset though and they had just squashed the box over the top of it, but fortunately it didn't suffer any damage. I think they really need to review their packing though, otherwise they will definitely lose customers to amazon and cd-wow.

Incidentally the reason i recommended Amazon over cd-wow on this occasion is that cd-wow seem to be having stock problems lately so i doubt they'd guarantee delivery any time soon. Even items in stock seem to change to out of stock, and then reappear with a higher price and few days later.

Got ours on Monday morning in perfect condition.

Was pretty miffed that the bl**dy royal mail decided to leave it on the front door step in broad daylight!

I've yet to receive mine from Amazon, even though I pre-ordered well in advance. As always the Amazon delivery estimates are way off.

I placed my order for it Tuesday and it has said "Dispatching Soon" since Tuesday night. Taking quite sometime for a title that is listed as "Usually ships within 24 hours" to be sent, is this normal for Amazon?

Mine was in perfect condition, but I had to rip the box to get the model out, hence runing the limited edition number
It's my own fault really as I couldn't wait to play with it ;)

Had an email today from Amazon saying mine has shipped so hopefully I will have it tomorrow.

I wont be removing the model from the set as I like leaving Limited Editions as they are, that is why I havent removed the models from the LOTR EE Gift Sets.

Mine arrived from Play in perfect condition- but it is a lottery when packed like that.

It took 3 attempts for me to get Alien Quadrilogy undamaged- 1 attempt with Play, and 2 with Amazon. Neither company seemed to really take into account the fragility of the boxset with their packing, although Amazon was better.

What is the Starbug model like?

Still waiting for mine from Amazon. It's now four days over the delivery estimate. Why didn't I use Play like I always do for DVDs?

Hopefully they will include the Corgi Red Dwarf model with Series 6.

I haven't seen anybody doing a special edition of series 6. Anybody else noticed one ? It seems strange that Series 5 is the only one to be bundled with a model.

It doesnt look like they will be doing a Special Edition Gift Set for Series 6 but considering the next Corgi Model is of the longer version Red Dwarf and seeing as it was first seen in Series 8 I dont think its impossible to assume that Series 8 will be available as a Gift Set.

I believe the original idea was to have Series 4 bundled with the Starbug model but production issues got in the way of that and it ended up with series 5.

That would give some symmetry to the idea of having a Red Dwarf model with Series 8.

I had hoped they would, but they didn't. I do hope for series 7 and / or 8 they do something special. I wouldn't have minded a miniture Red Dwarf, or Blue Midget, or perhaps a nice miniture plush of a Polymorph or something? Lol!

I'm dreading the release of the last Dvd though, as you just know they'll release a nice box set with all eight two-disc Dvd's in it. That'll mean i'll naturally have to sell the ones I have collected so far (Except series 5), and buy the box set...

I've just pre-ordered Series 7 from Play - it's a 3 disc set as there are 8 episodes in series 7. I had a search around Play first for any special gift sets but couldn't find any. I too would like to have a RD model to sit alonside the Starbug.
