Was watching the rugby saturday on Sky Sports 3 I think (but thats not important). Anyway, it wasn't being broadcast on either of the HD Sports channels. It then popped up with an option to watch it in HD via the red button, which looked just as good as the HD channels normally do.
Made me wonder if this could be done with other channels - esp the SD Premiere channel?

What sky do is "borrow" some bandwidth from sky box office at non-peak times. The problem with Sky Prem is that the first showing is at a peak time so I can't see sky doing it
