Hello folks,

Quick question please. Is it possible to use an old Sky box to record TV programmes when it is only connected via a conventional TV arial?

Many thanks.

That's a shame! Thank you for your answer.

Technically it probably is possible, but the kit to do it on a one off basis would run into thousands. The tuners in a satellite box are designed to work with higher frequencies than is used on terrestrial TV. In any case such a converter would need to connect the the lnb inputs. The rf input on a Sky box is merely used to pass on Freeview signals to the rf1 and rf2 outputs plus a single PAL analogue channel that allows remote viewing of the Sky box plus Freeview on a remote TV using a single coax cable, created internally in the box.

Very comprehensive description, thank you. It confirms that I can't use it as a recorder and it has also made my head hurt:thumbsdow
