Recording NTSC tape onto dvd,blank band problem

    Trying to record an ntsc tape(my video plays them)onto a panasonic dvd recorder.the picture is in colour but has black bars at the bottom of the picture.
    when i put the dvd recorder settings to ntsc the bars are gone but the picture is black & white.
    anyone help?

    You get the black bars because a pal screen has more lines than an ntsc one.
    You're probably getting back and white because your tv can't handle an ntsc signal... try outputing on rgb if you can...

    No he's not.
    Your VCR outputs NTSC as PAL 60.Panasonic will not record PAL 60.Only Philips and Pioneer recorders do this.The Panny needs a pure NTSC signal which will not be output by a standard UK vcr
