    Just a quick question.
If I want to archive programs from an HD box to SD DVD. Would it be better to just record the SD version or record the HD version and let the HD box downscale to SD.

Would that not depend on whether you wanted to watch it first in HD? If you were going to archive to DVD immediately without watching you would be aswell recording in SD.

This is likley for programs I'm going to watch live in HD.
Just a matter do I set it to record in SD to archive or HD. It's really just a matter of what would give me the best quality DVD recording. MY TV only does 480p anyway.

    Record the HD version.

A DVD recording from a downscaled HD broadcast will be much better than a SD broadcast.

Heres a clue. If your TV only does 480p anyway then its always showing downscaled HD.

Does the downscaled HD look better than the SD equivilent?
