We've just had Sky+ installed, and it's all working perfectly except that we can't record programmes that we've recorded using Sky+ onto VCR.

I think this problem is due to how the Sky+ box, TV and VCR are connected together. Can somebody tell me how they should be connected?

I've seen another post on here which describes the connections in terms of AV1 and AV2, but our connections are labelled differently:

    TV: AV1 and AV2
Sky+ box: TV Scart and VCR Scart
VCR: VCR decoder and TV-RGB Composite

    Any help will be appreciated!

Connect Sky+ TV scart to TV and VCR scart to VCR, what's the problem?

I think the problem may be that they're all labelled differently.

You need to connect a scart cable from the sky output to the video input. Looking at your labels I'd guess it should go from VCR scart on the skybox to VCR decoder.

    Good luck . . .

Edit: Mind you - why would you want to record onto VCR?

My OH wanted to tape a boxing match that he'd recorded, for someone who doesn't have Sky. ;)

    Fair enough . . .

If all else fails you can try unplugging everything and wiring the sky cable and aerial into the skybox, run a scart from the output socket of the sky box into the VCR input socket and then a scart form the VCR output to the TV. You should then be able to play a Sky+ recording and press record on the VCR.

Another thought - you also need to select the right channel on your VCR (Usually aux1 or 2 - sort of "below" channel 1).

Once you've done it throw the VCR out ;)
