I have a Sky + box and a Sony RDR-GX120 DVD Recorder. I can record from Sky + to a DVD provided that I keep the programme on the TV - if I change back to a Sky channel on screen the DVD records that instead. What am I missing? Thanks in advance for any help.

you can only view 1 thing at a time, when you are recording on dvd your dvd player in effect is viewing the sky box, so what ever you set sky to is what it will record

Basically although the Sky+ has two tuners , it only has one decoder and one decrypter so can only output one signal at any one time, be it a recording or a live channel and the output is the same signal on all outputs, RF,scarts or s-video. So to sum up you cannot archive off to DVD AND watch a live channel at the same time.
