I have recently had sky+ installed and am thinking about getting a DVD Recorder to archive recordings off the sky+ box. Would the recordings to DVD happen in real time - that is would it take 1 hour to record 1 hour of recorded programme onto DVD (as I guess it would if recording from sky+ to a VCR) or would the recording be quicker?

    Thanks in anticipation.

The recording is always in real time. What you are doing is just playing the recording on the Sky+ box and recording that on the DVD recorder. I opted to go for the DVD recorder with hard disk so that I can copy a whole batch of programs in one go (overnight) and then split them up and edit them on the hard disk - you can't record lots of programs if you just have a dvd recorder with no hard disk. Bear in mind that when you are copying stuff you can't watch Sky
