Can you record home made DVD-Rs to VHS with these DVD Player/VHS vcr recorder combis?

Or does it depend on the make and model?

I always assumed macrovision protection was built into the player and would thus prevent recordings from ANY disk.

(I know for a fact that my Pioneer 717 has had Macrovision disabled).

Or is it a combination of the disk and the player?

Macrovision should not be on a home made DVD-R, so there should be no problem, even a DVD-R backup of any retail DVD should of had Macrovision removed during the backup procedure.

OK we're going shopping for this next week.

Does anyone know for sure which models allow you to copy DVD-Rs to VHS. I know some do and some don't, but which

I know the Tosh 33 does, but can't find it anywhere.

    How about the Tosh 24?
