I have a Phillips IDTV and want to record free to air digital channels.

How do I get my VCR to recognise the digital signals coming from my IDTV?

Am I right in assuming that the decoded digital signal from the TV is sent to the VCR via the SCART cable that connects my TV and VCR?

    Many thanks in advance.

Correct - provided that the SCART cable is wired up bi-directional (most are). You need to set the VCR to the external/av/aux input.
