I've tried recording the audio from a dvd onto my MD via a optical cable but it wont record. I've set the digital output to PCM and it still wont record. Is the copy protection on the MD being used?

    Any ideas ppl.

P.S. Is it worth upgrading the free optical cable I got with my Sony MDR909 which I use to record from my Sony DVP-NS700.
I was looking at the QED OM Optical Cable £24.99. Would I really notice much difference?

Im not sure your personal MD recorder will have a 48Khz sample rate convertor in it, if its a MD personal I would use the cable supplied, cables only really make a difference on full size MD decks.

Brilliant, thanks for that. It seems it is the MD's copyright protection system as it as a built in sample converter.

    many thanks
