Some help needed as I am on the verge of AV induced madness.

Basically I'm have been onthe look out foe a dvd player and have been considering the Pioneer 575A as it appears be be excellent for cd playback (paramount to me) and plays a whole array of formats, however I am interested to know whether I would be better off 'throwing all my eggs into one basket' as it were and getting a dvd recorder instead

Would a recorder fit the bill sonically or would I be better advised to get a separate player and recorder?

Also if I were to get myself two separate decks would I be able to record from one to the other?

Apologies for the probable ignorance of this post but I am tearing my hair out!

    Thanks alot.
