Very quick question. I can't really find much info about the function of the hdd within a recorder, hence the question.

Will a dvd recorder with a hdd allow you to record one program whilst watching another? For this question lets assume the two programs are on Sky.

    Thanks guys.

    Your question is potentially ambiguous.

If you mean can you watch a recording you have made of a Sky programme onto the hard disk, whilst you make another recording from Sky, simultaneously ... the answer is, Yes in most cases... although it may be machine dependent and you should check before purchase.

If you mean can you record one sky channel and watch another sky channel simultaneously ... the answer is NO - unless you have a twin feed and twin LNB sky unit. In other words two independent tuners.
You cannot get two independent channel feeds from a single tuner.

In Laymans terms, no you cannot.

Thats where the sky plus box comes in!
