I have a few questions about TV shows that I record on my Windows XP MCE computer. Is there a way to edit the TV show files using video editing software? None of the programs I have allow me to even open these files. Also, 30-minute shows in good quality can be a few gigabytes, but I'd like to cut down the size of these files. Can I do this with any software without decreasing the video quality? Thanks for your help.

If you have a look here there are some 3rd party plug ins which will convert recorded tv shows from dvr_ms to another format. Not had a chance to try them myself yet.

However, you should be able to play back these files on any computer with WindowsMedia Player, although you may need to let it download the relevant codec.
