    Hi everyone

Have been considering gettting a hard drive recorder for the living room but struck me that as I currently have a 100GB laptop linked up via the VGA input to my plasma there must be a way of using that instead. TV source is an NTL cable box. Ideally I would probably not want the cable box hooked up to the laptop all the time so any solution that is easy to swap the output between the laptop and the AV receiver would be welcome.

I appreciate that I will probably need an analogue TV card of some sort but really computers are new ground for me so that means very little.

Any step by step guide to what I need to do/ buy would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

I've been thinking about doing the same thing. I don't want to spend much as its only to tide me over until Telewest get round to releasing their PVR.

    I've been considering this:

    Freecom DVB-T Receiver

Has anyone got experience with this or similar devices?

    Cheers.
