Record 5.1 to PC from AV receiver

Hello all,

I'm thinking of connecting my AV receiver to my laptop, via Toslink, to see if I can record sound from a PS3, Wii etc. What is the best software/hardware for this?

I currently have the Creative Audigy 2 ZS notebook card and I don't think it can record multi-channel sound :(

Its possible , but not with what you have , for some basic information and what you need , see here ,

Multichannel Recording - Audacity Wiki

Its not cheap , you need a semi pro sound card at least, and if you want to use more professional software than audacity , you should go for one that supports ASIO.
