    Hi all,

I am a relative newbie to the whole world of home cinema set ups. I am moving into a home with 6.1 surround prewired. I need to buy a sub and I have no clue what to look for -hence why I am looking to you experts for help!

I am looking to buy a Yamaha RX-V1500 amp and would like to spend around £200 ($400 ish)on a sub.

I am brit, but I live in the US at the moment.

    What can you guys recommend?

    It needs to be powered.

    Steve

Living in the us i would recomend the svs PB10-ISD at $429 +shipping its got to be a bargain at that price over there.
Would you be bringing any of this gear back to the uk some day? You will have problems with the voltage difference.

Thanks for the help to date folks. I will look into the SVS that you mention.

The gear will most likely never make it back to the UK so voltage shouldnt be an issue.

I am in Arizona! I have gone from lots of rain to the desert - quite a stark difference!

Nice :) we spent the first few months of this year living in breckenridge in colorado (snowboarding season). BIG BIG difference to manchester, much cleaner air, just not enough of it at 9000ft!

If you decide to go with an SVS I'm sure you won't be disappointed, I think the only people that don't think much of mine are my neighbours!

Wouldnt it be nice to have the rocket and Hsu line up in this country without haveing to buy on trust your not buying a lemon and then paying import tax, postage and duty. I know it would defeat the point and the savings made but then it would be easy to get a demo. How many poeple on here own Rocket or Hsu products?

Ettepet has some Rocket 850s which he thinks are great.

I'm sorely tempted by the Rocket 550s and can't wait for news on the UFW12. :)

I can't recall anyone here stating that they owned a subwoofer from either Rocket or Hsu or indeed from most of the other American sub manufacturers that don't have UK representation.

Sorry I was getting a little of topic. I was just wondering how many people on these forums own US imported subs except Svs especially Hsu and Rocket.
