Can someone recommend a new digital camera for me? With the price up to about £250

Currently I have a Samsung A6 (http://www.digital-cameras.info/samsung-digimax-a6.htm) which has served me well and is still a decent camera but I need to upgrade.

Requirements in order:
  • 8 MegaPixel plus
  • Rechargeable battery - None of this AA rubbish
  • Slimmer than the A6 - I need something that was slip into my pocket
  • Shot Burst - Where it can take two or more photos at the same time
  • High ISO - Not really sure what it does but I would like one with at least 1600 ISO
  • Quick startup - The faster the better
I like the look of the Sony Cyber Shots are these any good?

Is this one any good? http://www.ebuyer.com/product/142290

My 1,2,3 brands for a compact camera would be Canon, Panasonic and then Sony. I used to have a Sony digital camera, but I have read many reviews of people upgrading their cameras and saying the old one was better.

Something like the IXUS 970 IS, or if you have bigger pockets the Canon G9.

If you want high ISO and multi-frames per second, then look for a digital SLR. Compact cameras have their limitations.

Ok I am not that fussy on high ISO and multi-frames per second as I know a SLR would be better for this purpose.

I think I want a compact camera rather that a semi-SLR thing as I can not be bothered carrying it about :D

cheaper here if you want the sony http://www.camerabox.co.uk/product1.asp?ProductName=Sony-DSC-T300-Silver&ProductID=4452

the panasonic tz5 came out top on the gadgetshow trial last weak £199 thereabouts

I like the look of the Panasonic TZ5, good optical zoom and MegaPixels the only thing is it might be a bit big for the pocket at 36.5 mm

Does anyone have this camera and would they recommend it?

Thanks for the link for the Sony camera, what a saving :p

Why is the silver one more expensive? are they not the same camera?

I think the Sony might be ahead right now just because its only 2.1 cm and will fit in my pocket better.

strange isnt it same camera different colour different price ,and i prefer the black really ,the panasonic tz5 is the 1 i have settled on now all the reviews seem to have this camera at the top of there lists so will probably order tomorrow

Now the cheap Sony one is out of stock

I may just get the Panasonic TZ5 one now, where is the cheapest place to get it and what are the batteries like on it?

How much is an extra battery? will I require an extra battery or is it safe just to have one spare anyway?
