just thought i would start the ball rolling
venue and a date would be a start, any ideas ?
You organising this one then Rob??
Interesting reading the reactions to the 3rd golf day - somewhat of a sour note it seems , although the evening entertainment sounds as though it worked well Just how much cash was spent in there I wonder?
Anyhow, if you want a good reference point to start Signs, go to www.todaysgolfer.co.uk and you can read handicap players' comments on courses all over the UK rather than read publicity blurb from the courses themselves. I used it recently to find a 2-fore-1 course to use vouchers I got for Xmas.
Awfully nice of you to offer again Rob
Where do peeps want to go next.
Up north (as in towards/in Scotland) or down south for Shandy and co
Alternatively, quite a few of the cheapy airlines fly to Faro.....
no not this time , we have done our bit just "putting" the feelers out (Christ i sound like our new captain)
Let's retire to the committee room for a brandy and a cigar
Just had an anonymous email from someone recommending here -
I would look at a golf day during July (leaves space for another one in October) probably best on a Friday - think we should base this one in the Midlands area or alternatively look to take Martin (Ashworthacca) up on his previous offer in Barnsley - good location close to the M1.
The previous golf days have already been fairly northern based and we should continue in the same vein - Martin has already promised some quality evening entertainment.
Hi if anyone is interested i would be more than happy to organise golf day four at either of these clubs for letting you down not attending golf day 3.
this first club is on the outskirts of burton on trent.
second club 20 mins of junction 16 m6
If not just a thought.
Yep, if needed, as the founder of AVforums Golf Days I am willing to arrange the next event and arrange the necessary at my club.
We'll see what everyone thinks.
Very kind of you to offer again Martin
I am more than happy for it to be in Barnsley.
Thanks for offering Jonnie , but as we have done Burton before then I think we need a change.
That's decided then! Any lap dancing clubs in Barnsley??
Ok matt no probs.
I have spoken to owen this afternoon and he assure's me that his handicap is 25 and his friends is 23. He is going to get a hadicap certificate done at his club and post it for all to see.
Hes says it was just the best round of golf he has ever played, will find out soon has he is coming for a game at the craythorne with me and signs all being well.
Will the post results
Fine with me too
You got a link to your club Martin so I can have another look
I would be up for another go.....well,you need someone to come last........
I might be interested in the next one. Although i am abit intimidated as I play off 23, so may not be up to your standard.
Your more than welcome mate. be good to see you.
Not yet but one is planned
Not sure if they have new website up and running yet, I'll contact the pro and let you know mate.
Out of interest, does it have to be a Friday? I have a serious shortage of annual leave left now for the rest of the year so if it was a Saturday I'd be more likely to be able to attend - speaking from a selfish point of view of course
is Abbygoo building it
your club is fine with me Martin
Hi mate, glad you enjoyed the day.
Problem with weekend's is that 99% of golf clubs do not allow Societies to play at weekends so it has to be midweek. You can throw a sickie though.
Great, would be good to see you again mate
Count me in, Pave'll need some company in the last group.
I might have a lesson................
Be good to see everyone again,Dean.....repeat after me....."we will not be in the last group".
See you in the last group then........
I'll be back in action by July hopefully. The drink and being stood up in LL did not do me any good and I had to bail because of that ......
Still, I should be having a cortisone injection soon that should sort me out ... it better had, I have a stag do from May 17-20 in Magaluf!!
Heh heh - we'll get a bit of practice in and scare the lillies off the rest!
I wish that was true down here mate - societies are EVERYWHERE at the weekend. In fact, it was only a couple of years ago, after repeated voicing of concerns by members at our club, that they stopped societies / pay-n-play from going out on Sunday mornings, right in the middle of club comps!!
How dumb-*ss is that?
And they wonder why entries to the sunday comps are falling - don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure it out methinks! Do you think it's some sort of qualifying trait that all involved with managing golf clubs immediately stop using common sense upon taking up committee positions??!! Drives me mad just thinking about some of the impossibly ridiculous decisions the committee at ours makes whilst the course goes untended. Grrrrrr
But I digress. All I'm asking is that the possibility of a Saturday is entertained.
I'd definately play Saturdays which I'm sure most of the other guys would. See what the other guys think and see if we can agree on a venue that would accomodate us Saturday and we'll be sorted.
