I'm looking for a new CD player. Have a budget of around £200, what can the peeps here recommend me? Leaning towards a Marantz but found the playback from them to be a bit too bright for my tastes. I prefer a flat warmish sound. cheers
How about a MARANTZ CD6000 OSE LIMITED EDITION £179.95 at http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/page/moreinfo.cfm/Product_ID/755, very good player at a discounted price. or NAD C521BEE CD £182.95 at http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/page/moreinfo.cfm/Product_ID/1511 also £178.00 richer sounds online Good reviews on the above, but don't have them myslef. I run the Marantz CD6000 K1 SIG (perfect for my ears) Regards, Chris L.
I auditioned the NAD C521BEE and the Marantz CD5400 a few months back. Although an excellent player, I found the Marantz to be too bright. I decided on the NAD and am very pleased with it - very very good performance for the price and a nice warm, smooth, detailed sound with great bass punch.
audtioned the NAD too, the soundstage wasn't as wide as the Marantz and didn't sound too impressive. Might see if I can up the budget a bit and opt for a Rotel or Arcam. eeee...decisions decisions
