I'm looking for a new CD player. Have a budget of around £200, what can the peeps here recommend me? Leaning towards a Marantz but found the playback from them to be a bit too bright for my tastes. I prefer a flat warmish sound.

    cheers

I auditioned the NAD C521BEE and the Marantz CD5400 a few months back. Although an excellent player, I found the Marantz to be too bright. I decided on the NAD and am very pleased with it - very very good performance for the price and a nice warm, smooth, detailed sound with great bass punch.

audtioned the NAD too, the soundstage wasn't as wide as the Marantz and didn't sound too impressive. Might see if I can up the budget a bit and opt for a Rotel or Arcam. eeee...decisions decisions :D
