rhoamish ,
Where is round round here?
Main dealers up in scotland generally want about two grand over the motorpoint pricing.
I wouldn't want to spend that kind of cash with a private sale or worse still the small (arfur) independents.
OI HORNY your coveting my next car!!!!!!!!!!!!
'Round here' is Bedfordshire: most of them are ex-Vauxhall Motors fleet cars (the Signum is too expensive new, so they didn't sell many, but they're a bargain second-hand).
Mine was from an independent, which used to be a main dealer. However, I wouldn't recommend a Vauxhall main dealer: every contact with them has been bitterly disappointing. My car spent 3 days with two different dealers, and they still couldn't sort out a minor fault. However, a competent independent mechanic fixed it in 10 minutes, at a cost of £15!
I'd recommend the dealer I bought it from: they always have Signums in stock, in various trim levels. I've had mine a while, so it has the 2.2 DTi engine, but I should think the new 1.9 CDTi is a better engine (not that the 2.2 is particularly bad: it's just not quite as responsive).
Petrol models are seriously cheap: the 2.0 turbo can be had for under £10k, with around 10,000 miles on the clock, at a year old!
There was also a 150 bhp Vectra SRi 1.9 CDTi, with full leather and satnav, under 12 months old, around 10k miles, for £12,900. A Golf will probably hold its value better from new, but they're really pricey new for decent spec.
