Recommendations for 80's stereo replacement!

Active Member
Hi all, as a total AV dunce I need help!

Our current set up is -
LG 32" LCD TV (HD ready)
Sony huge 80's stereo which has an input from the TV, so I can pipe the music through it (sounds OK actually)
Sky+ box on AV1
DVD player on AV2

What I would like to achieve is for the 80s stereo to be replaced with a neat unit (similar size to sky+ box), which -
plays CDs (or DVDs?)
has a radio, (not mega important)
accepts input from TV
has some speakers attached, preferably wireless ones (L-shaped room)
can wirelessly play MP3's from our PC (like a Squeezebox?)

Budget, about £500?

AV stuff is not my forte so I don't even know if the above is achievable?

Any help gratefully received!

I've decided to get the squeezebox 3 and a friend has recommended the Denon AVR 1507 and the Kef 1005 speaker pack.

The room it is going in is L-shaped, with the longest wall being 24' and the end being 10'

What are peoples opinions of this potential set up?
