...but it must have component out and an exceptional component picture, at that.

Due to massive shadyness on the part of a courier company(which I shall name when the dust settles, so to speak) I may require a new DVD player. My main display unit has component inputs but not ProgScan, so that isn't essential.

Just one more thing, does the fault known as "green screen" with RGB, effect component awell? I ask because every Pioneer DVD player I've owned has caused this insideous fault with my display units.

Thanks guys for any advice you can offer. :D

    :)
Sometimes it works that way. I guess we all want to know the best PQ for each priceband (100-200,200-500,500-1000, etc etc) for each connection type (DVI, Scart, Svid, Component) but I dont think such a list CAN exist. Its so subjective.
I'm in the same boat as you and was actually thinking of spending bigish bucks on a Denon 2910 but then someone said its PQ was worse then THEIR old £50 Tosh 240. Its just beauty in the eye .......
I'm so itching to get a decent DVD for my new plasma that I think I'll just throw £120 at the Pioneer 575 (which gets good reviews and is far better looking imho than the Tosh 340). If something comes along that blows the competition away in a few months for a few hundred quid then fine, I can handle throwing £120 away now. It would be nice to have a new player for Xmas.

well, i was thinking about the pioneer 575 or the yamaha dvsl100. i don't really like my pioneer(360) as it just didn't sit well with me, but you do get a hell of a lot for your money with the 575.
