Recommend small subwoofer for Golf Cabrio(convertible)

I want to get a new subwoofer & speakers but my car being a convertible, the space is limited!

One shop recommended the Alpine SWD 1600 (due to its compact size) but another shop said they are absoutely crap!

Can anyone recommend a small one thats any good?
Is it possible to get them built into the spare tyre area without losing too much space also?

Small and really tight ( dont need much of an amp to drive it too hence good for your can.

ah well its a bit late now coz its being fitted as we speak

i got the pioneer tssw1241d, magnat the rock 600 amp and pioneer tsh1703 speakers

i'm on a bit of a budget but I've just spent more than I intended now anyway!(£490 fitted)

anyone now anything about any of the above?
