Thanks for that, I´ll be making my way through the list ... :)

I´ve just grabbed me Iron Monkey from DDDHouse for $20HKD

Also picked up John Woo´s The Killer, longing to see if its as good an action movie as reviews make out. At $40HKD I doubt you can go wrong :)

    Cheers for the recommendations!

Yeah it's really good. Can't believe I forgot it aswell.
Subtitles a bit dodgy in places though.
"hey pass me the soccer." ;)

What region would you recommend I get these films?
I suspect the r2/r1 versions have dodgy dubbed soundtracks and watching them in their original language with subtitles is best.

    Cheers

Almost all the ones I have are Region 2.
I watch them all subbed, becuase the dubs are usually terrible.
Hong Kong Legends do very good subtitles.
Just make sure you can watch them in their original language. I've bought a couple that only have dubbed soundtracks and it's a real pain to watch them.

Thats why I was asking, I saw a R0 of Iron Monkey on Play for a mere 7 quid but it said no subtitles and dubbed english - no thanks :)

I was having a browse on DDDHouse at a few of these movies in R3 and was quite tempted at the low prices (some as low as 20HKD) but then noticed that the shipping to Europe is quite steep if your getting more than one film at a time. Is there anywhere else that does r3´s at a reasonable price?

    Cheers,
    Rob

PS: I just saw the trailer to Kill Bill on a rental - fwooooar!

They re-released all the Bruce Lee ones I think for the special boxset and I think they are uncut.
Way of the Dragon is, not sure about the rest tbh.
They're all digitally remastered, dunno if they're all uncut.

HKL do try and release them uncut, but they are like every UK company subject to the ravages of the BBFC. Snake in the Eagles Shadow for example had a forced cut for reasons it showed animal cruelty. This is a super company, obviously run by fans who care about the material they are handling, and they put to shame many other companies with the attention to detail in the restoration - many of these movies arrive in a disgusting condition and need extensive restoration.

Anyway - two other recommendations are Magnificent Butcher (No wire-fu but excellent traditional moves), and Encounters of a Spooky Kind (Some good Kung Fu, one fight scene with a corpse!).
A good place to buy is from HKL direct (www.hongkonglegends.co.uk), £9.99 delivered for most titles.

Wont go wrong with any of the above recomendations (except for shaolin soccer, musa the warrior & twin effect as i have not seen them), especially Prodigal Son its a traditional style belter!

Also Drunken Master II (region 1) is a Must!! A J.C. classic!

Drive (mark dacasscos) is also a good bet for action + available well chep!
