Looking to replace my Yamaha rv673 as ive now got a Samsung uhd tv and want to view amazon video uhd through my amp. I have Virgin Media Tivo and will be looking to update to the 4k box once out, uhd blu ray player, amazon fire tv, ps4. So looking to hook all this up with a new receiver that wil handle uhd but hopefully at a reasonable cost, maybe under £300 if possible, any recommendations [email protected]

I have seen the Yamaha rx-v681 at RS for £399 for the same price as the Denon AVR-X3200W. I was all set on the Denon but the Yamaha seems a good discount, even more confused now! Has anyone else looked at both?

I think that you mean the Denon AVRX2300 is seling for the same price? The AVRX3200 is a discontinued model and Richer Sounds no longer have any stocks of it remaining. Even then, it would have cost you more than just £399.

Yes you are correct, missed that one! Any idea which to go for, 2300 or 681?

Both have their plus points. The Denon seems to have more features, but the Yamaha has a superior build quality. The Denon also appears to have more glitches associated with it than the Yamaha, but these may eventually be resolved via firmware updates? But there's no assurance that they will or guessing as to when such updates will be issued?

Have you considered arranging a demo of both these receivers? I'd suggest this to be the best way to determine which you'd prefer.

More features and more power on the Denon, as well as more HDMI inputs. Yamaha seems to be better built and more reliable, it also got music cast built in. Denon got better room EQ though. Denon has a nice warm sound while Yamaha is know for being bright (excellent for Monitor audio speakers).

The choice is yours! Both are excellent av receivers, neither will disappoint you. I suggest choosing the one you like based on looks :D
