    Hi

I've yet to be convinced that Music DVDs in 5.1 sound good.

The only one that has impressed me is Aero by Jean Michel Jarre.

I've got broad musical tastes. Please recommend something that will impress me with pic and sound quality!!

    Thanks
    Richard

Just music DVD's or dvd-audio and sacd.
Plain music DVDs "HELL FREEZES OVER" by the eagles
DVD-audio "automatic for the people" REM
SACD "Dark side of the moon" Pink Floyd.
Ive listed these for no other reason than they are the only ones ive got :rotfl:
I think there pretty good all the same.

Paul Simon,You're The One in concert, has fantastic picture and good dts sound.
Peter Gabriel,Play the videos, is great if you like remixed 'in the music' sound, also comes mixed in the new dts 96/24.
The best music dvd i own is Peter Gabriel,Growing Up Live, the picture and sound are
    just superb.

Another vote here for "Growing Up Live" by Peter Gabriel - it's stunning. The only music video I own that I stuck in the player to have a quick look at and found myself still watching it 2 hours later...

And if you fancy something a bit heavier, I'd recommend Metallica's "S&M" or Nine Inch Nails' "And All That Could Have Been" - excellent picture, sound and atmosphere on both.

    Hi

    sorry - I should have clarified -
DVD-Video and not DVD-audio or sacd.

    Keep the suggestions coming!

Superb 16:9 picture and terrific sound quality - one of the best concert recordings I have heard on DVD Video...

As the above, but if you like Jazzy stuff, the best music DVD I have ever seen for pic and sound (including Peter Gabriel's Growing Up Live) is Pat Metheny Group Speaking Of Now Live, but I think I'm the only guy here who ever recommends it!

But I would also say that it would help if you included some more specific music tastes eg Heavy Rock, Jazz, Classic Rock, Progressive, Classical, Country and Western* etc etc. I know so many people who say they have broad music tastes, but when you pin them down, they really mean mainstream rock music. Not a criticism, but if you don't like modern Jazz fusion, my recommendation will sound like a pile of pants to most people!

    Phil

    *OK, not Country and Western!!

Being a funky kinda monkey I have to recommend James Brown Live at the House of the Blues. Not just cos it's funky, but because it was recorded using special widescreen cameras, especially for DVD. The same goes for the sound. All equipment used was special Sony gear to maximise quality on DVD.

That led zep dvd is a big must , I mean if you dont like them dont get it
BUT if you do like them and you have a good sys ya just gota get it. I cant believe how well they have remixed the sound and the way they have done the dvd over all ,it gives a feeling of how they tightened up as a band over time.
I see that the dregs have just recorded a live concert and may well release a well recorded dvd this time. YEEHAAA.

    Hi

My favourite music DVD is DOVES from where where calling from.

Excellent gig in dolby 5.1 from eden festival which looks & sounds fantastic. Also has loads of interactive stuff on it movies, videos etc.

    Well worth a look.

Also have to recommend the new Human League live DVD. Sounds great in 5.1 and imaging looks great too.

    Regards

    Gary

Philly112 I have been listening to Pat Metheny Group Speaking Of Now Live.
Great DVD man. He really knows how to create atmosphere and the sound is spot on.
I didnt like Peter Gabriel much but the quality is good Im sure he a fantastic entertainer for the folks out there that dig him but its just not my musical taste.
Got Larry Carltons dvd taped at a club in Germany, visualy not that great but sound wise OK, entertainment wise fantastic.
Deep Purple in Australia called total abandon is also very good.
    cheers
