Hi all

just sold my Samsung H8500M for £200 !
i paid £130 for it new 6 years ago!

need another BR player to replace it with, something cheap off the bay that does full HD, any suggestions ?

i don't want to spend a lot. as the hope of going 4K eventually...

thanks

would a cheap 4K player be better to get rather than a blu Ray player?

any suggestions ?
Depends if you have a 4K TV and would be buying any 4K UHDs.
If not buying UHDs a 4K TV can generally upscale blu-rays as good as a 4K player can.

I have just bought a

Samsung BD-J7500

only cost me £50 delivered, does 4K up scale, so it is not that old.

the only thing that's different from my other one is the HDD (which i don't use) and 2 HDMI outs instead of one.

and it should be faster loading

so I shouldn't notice any difference

But I have a sound bar

to get the best possible audio and video from my setup, i assume i connect 1 HDMI to the audio OUT on the BR player to the Audio IN on the sound bar

2nd HDMI cable connects to the HDMI out (non-audio) to the BR player and connect other end to my TV

do i need a 3rd to connect from the Sound bar to the TV for video to ?

If your soundbar does video passthrough (check the specifications) you could just connect the player HDMI audio + video output to the soundbar (HDMI IN) and then the soundbar to the TV (HDMI OUT). The player signal will then go to the soundbar which will play the audio and passthrough the video to the TV.

I only have 1 hdmi IN , and 1 HDMI OUT on my soundbar

i have a samsung HW-MS650

so best way to connect this all up ?

As you say the soundbar can passthrough the video:
Player--->| HDMI IN | soundbar | HDMI OUT |--->TV

thanks
i thought it would have been best to go directly from the player to TV, with the audio direct to soundbar, but i guess if you do it that way you would loose the sound from normal TV freeview

but if your only playing Blu Rays, would it make any difference connecting the way said ?

so i got my Samsung J7500 player
now i can play some BR discs that i couldn't before

This player is better than my old one, its quieter and faster

also sounds better and the picture quality is better as a result

but one thing i did, was replace one of my cables as it was an unknown HDMI lead, to a certified Super HDMI (8K max)

very pleased as it basically cost me nothing to get it ;)
