As above, I'm after two discs in particular. Carole King Tapestry and The Beach Boys Holland. I have found both on Scott Nangle Audio, unfortunately his feedback is almost 100% negative. Any pointers will be more than welcome.

Can’t specifically help you, but yes avoid Scott Nangle. Only dealt with him once, never again. How he remains in business is beyond me.

Can't you get them from the usual suspects such as Amazon?

Amazon are expensive, almost twice the price of fleabay. It's just that I'm reluctant to trust fleabay that's why I've asked for recommendations but none seem forthcoming.

Ah you want cheap as well as reliable. I can't help you there I'm afraid. Are you interested in DVD Audio and Blu Ray Audio as well?

I've got a few blu ray audio and will purchase more as they become available and these I've got from Amazon and they play very well. I just want to push some stereo SACD through my Rega directly from the Marantz player mainly out of curiosity but Holland is just as hard to find on CD as it is on SACD, the CD has a very good dynamic range.

I've just bought a few old CDs as well as paying oldies from my collection all of which are pre noise war, the Rega which is only a couple of weeks old is now really beginning to open up. Kate Bush's The Kick Inside sounded the best I've ever heard it.

I have been very lucky over the past 13 years since buying hi-res discs, and have not yet dealt with an unreliable dealer. I bought all of my Beach Boys SACDs from either Elusive Disc or Acoustic Sounds in the USA, and was very pleased with the service. I have most of the Beach Boys SACD releases, although not "Holland" or "Beach Boys Party". In addition to the two dealers mentioned previously, I have also bought from Amazon UK, Germany, France, USA and Japan, and from CD Japan.

Like me, I see that you are UK-based, so if buying from outside the EU, bear in mind that importing discs may attract a VAT and admin charge - in addition to any postal charges you might have to pay. I believe the present GBP value threshold is £18. This could mean that if you order an SACD for the value of £20 from outside the EU, you could get caught for a £4.00 VAT charge, plus an £8.00 Royal Mail Administration Fee, making the album quite expensive.

I've checked back through my purchase records, and see that I bought all of my Beach Boys SACDs from Acoustic Sounds. I see also that in addition to the Beach Boys "Holland" album on SACD, the Carole King "Tapestry" SACD is also available from this dealer.

Right under my nose is a trader in our local indoor market. Although she has very few SACD or DVD-A she has a good network and will keep me informed. In fact I just missed a Credence Clearwater disc by a few minutes. I'll give that dealer you've mentioned a look but judging by the lists you have just posted perhaps you should start dealing. Impressive.

Thanks, but I'm happy to keep my collection and enjoy listening to it.

I've managed to pick up an awful lot of my discs when they were still reasonably priced, and although I can see a lot of them listed on places like eBay and Amazon at (what I judge as ridiculous prices), I'll keep them as long as I have the hardware that plays them - even if DVD-A and SACD are "dead" formats.

Good luck in your searches!

Realise the OP posted back in Feb, but I've found Discogs to be a reliable way of sourcing reasonably priced SACDs/DVD-As

Yes, I've started to use Discogs. I've bought three Moody Blues' SACDs from three different sellers, all advertised as being in mint condition and I haven't been disappointed. Recommended.

I've also ordered new SACDs from Acoustic Sounds in the US. Prices were very good, half that on Amazon but had a heafty $30 postal charge. At least I had them delivered in four days, got away with customs. They were Simon and Garfunkels' Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme and Cat Stevens' Tea for the Tillerman. The S&G is superb. Based on this experience I've pre-ordered another two from AS, Joan Armatrading's self titled album and Pink Floyds' Wish You Were Here.

Good to hear! Good luck and keep at it! Yes, I've also used Discogs with good results. Do keep an eye on any of the Amazons though. I managed to pick up the Moody Blues "In Searchof the Lost Chord" SACD at a good price from someone that didn't know what they were selling.

Just looked on Amazon and Discogs for Moodies SACDs. Amazon were £7 cheaper for a brand new copy of TOCCC and £50 more expensive for Question. Ordered TOCCC from Amazon and a mint copy of Question from Discogs. My missus is going to flay me alive. Little does she know I've also ordered a brand new MoFi SACD of Dylan's Desire from MCRU, a hardware specialist with a few SACDs the for Black Friday sale. Happy days.

Desire SACD is excellent. I think you'll enjoy it.

Blood On The Tracks is also a good one from MOFI.

Got Blood On The Tracks, the MoFi release along with MoFi's Greatest Hits. I also managed to get a mint used copy of Blonde on Blonde, Columbia issue, for £11. Slowly going to get more Dylan SACDs although I probably stick with the RB of John Wesley Harding as the SACD hasn't got the best reputation.

Do you have the MOFI SACD of Highway 61 Revisited? If not, would be interested to buy my copy as it's not an album I particularly like.

I've sent a PM.

Mods. Are we within Forum rules?

Mods -- My original intent was to check if Gibbsy had this specific title or not. We are not trying to bypass the trading rules, so please advise what I should now do.

Thanks.

as long as you follow the forum rules if the item is being sold (ie. list it for sale in the appropriate forum), there's no problem

To find SACD titles, a method I recommend is using HRAudio.net ( HRAudio.net - High Resolution Audio ) as a search tool, looking up a title there and then using the provided retailer links to check around for the best price.

(For example, here's Bob Dylan's "Bring It All Back Home" from Columbia at HRAudio.net - HRAudio.net - Bob Dylan: Bringing It All Back Home - click any of the vendor sites listed to go directly to the exact SACD disc at that site and see its price there.)
