Having just watched my mates laptop take a running jump down a flight of stairs today into pieces. He now needs a new one.

Requirements

*13"-15" screen
*Doesn't have to have an optical drive, would prefer it did but would use a USB powered one.
* Digital audio output or at the very least HDMI so audio can be sent via that.
* good battery. Not one that lasts 90 mins [what he said, not me]

Preferably i5 but seeing as its £300-350 budget i'll be amazed if it did.

No gaming, just movies, music, web, office etc

Suggestions please :)

If you had bothered to look at either or both of the links you would have seen both are second generation i5 machines.
Intel® Core i5-2400 Mobile Processors

I look at both of the links. My inital question was asking what a second gen i5 was. My processor knowledge is pretty poor and as such I don't know the difference between a gen 1 and 2 i5 processor, which is what I was trying to understand.

List of Intel Core i5 microprocessors - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Arrandale is first generation
Sandy Bridge is second generation
Ivy Bridge is third generation

Each generation is faster than the last in both processor and graphics.
