His HP Envy i5 has packed up so looking for a new (or refurb) replacement. He only uses it for homework and web so doesn't need a particularly high spec. Currently uses Microsoft Office. Max budget £300 and 13-14" screen size.
was looking at Chromebooks but guessing you can't use Office on them so is Google docs OK?
thanks

Chromebooks are an effort to make work with MS office stuff.

Currys HP Pavilion are £329 at the moment - more of interest are the random discounted laptops you can see whilst wandering around - pot luck when they happen

John Lewis have good discounts too check them as they are nicer than currys.

Something like this should be ok for homework.
