Just got myself a Dell 2005FPW TFT monitor for my PC. Thought I would make use of its multiple connections, in particular the S-Video and use it as a second TV.

What Freeview boxes would you guys currently recommend? If it had a S-Video connection that would be great but happy to go Scart to S-Video. It would also need audio out connections.

Finally, is there any way I can check what my reception would be like before I buy? My analogue picture is not good (possibly aerial misalignment) and I would hate to find out after I had bought the box that I need a new aerial etc.

    Cheers

Sorry I can't help with a freeview receiver with s-video recommendation but you can check reception of digitals signals here by inputting your postcode.

The various postcode predictors do seem to be quite conservative in their estimates, probably to avoid people buying boxes and finding out they don't work, so it's worth trying a box, even if they say reception may be marginal.

Just put my mothers post code in the Freeview checker above; said Freeview was not available. She has been happily receiving Freeview for about a year in fact. Confirms what Gary says above.
