Recommedation Wanted: Packed Bitstream Support + USB reqd - Which DVD Player ?

Hi all,

It appears my Yamada DVX6700 has given up the ghost (tray no longer opens) so I guess it's time to find a replacement.

My must have feature is Packed Bitstream support, ideally natively but if a Firmware upgrade is required, I'll do it....

I've never bothered converting any downloads to remove this and would prefer not to go back through all my files to do it.

USB Support would be very handy, and if the USB port could power a 2.5" HD, even better.

Can't think of anything else I'd need. Price not a factor....

Had a browse through various threads on here and so far, either the Sumvision Pheonix (albeit cheap) or one of the Phillips model (5960, 5980 or 5990) seems to fit the bill...

Any alternatives or recommendations of the above would be welcome, as would an explanation of which Phillips model is best and why.

Cheers,

Rob

Philips 5960 with hacked firmware is your cheapest option here. Although no USB power support for HD, I don't know any that has.

5960 firmware's and other info available here.

Cheers
