OK - I'm on a real budget for my new setup although don't want to go for one of these 'cube systems' as from listening to a few they all seem very 'listening through treakle' kind of sound!

I want a surround system eventually but also want decent speakers so I'm going to by a decoder and stereo speakers first then add more later!

DENON AVR1603 - This seems a cheap but decent choice - comments?
Any other sugestions? Dont realy wanna spend more that £200 on the reciever! Thanks

You could also consider the Marantz 4300 that Richer Sounds were doing for £199. (Don't know if they still are). Or there is the Yamaha HTR5640 for similar money and 6.1 as well.

Can't comment on the Denon, but their higher priced stuff is great.
