    Hi Everyone,

I am just planning a redecoration of my room.

Already have a 26" Phillips which is plenty big enought as its only at the end of my bed, also have a PS3 with a 250gb disk in which im using as my media centre.

I am considering getting a reciever, but im still a bit new with the audio side of things. My room is only small so what do you think i should go for.

My understanding of options are 2.1, 5.1 or a soundbar. Any secondhand gear i would be happy to look at buying.

    Thanks

There are almost endless combinations so if you could answer a couple of questions it'll help narrow it down:

    - what are you mainly planning to use the system for - movies and games presumably, but do you also want a good music system?

    - what budget did you have in mind?

    hiya,

thanks for the reply, im looking for a bit of an all rounder really. Movies and games from my ps3 and then have a line in so i could dock my iphone and listen.

Im really keen of the idea of the all in one sound bar type speakers. I know they might not be as good as dedicated amps, recievers and satelite speakers but as previously said there is not that much space in my room and having the sound bar above my tele i think would look really good.

    Thanks

£230 would get you the Sony 820 av amp new, but not much left for anything else, no speakers included.

The Sony HSSFS (or something like that) 1300 is around £300 and has speakers as well, but has fewer connection options than a full av amp.

Although if you want the HD audio from the PS3 you'll a amp which can take audio over HDMI, only the newest ones do that I think.

Very tight budget for what you're after.
