is there actually any point in getting a receiver with i.link?
i'm not that fussy about audio quality so i'm wondering whether i should shell out for the pio ax3 instead of ax5.....
may be i should go for denon2803?
    any suggestions?

The only point in getting a receiver with iLink is if you have a DVD player with similar connection.

All i know is that the vsxax3 is incredibly good ampso go for that (or the 5i but obviously only if you're gonna spend £800-£1000 on your dvd)

I went for the AX5i over the AX3 because it had iLINK.
Can't say I can notice any particular difference or improvement over phono or co-ax but the little blue light sure does look pretty....

Just got to love price match! ;)

Managed to get £100+ off a SLR+lens package a few years back, the sales guy couldn't believe the price and phoned the little shop I'd spotted it in, then steped back from the counter said Okay. He still looked stunned as I left the shop. :)

You can run atleast 270Mbits down a properly terminated 75ohm BNC cable, as this is what's used for SDI.

just called Sevenoaks at Kingston and they won't bulge. They're selling it for 999 squidily. They may price may the hi-spek price which is 956 but not 850. The manager told me to buy it from empire direct.... (i'll probably get it from superfi if they do do the price match!)
Nemo, which store did you ring up?
    cheers

kifimoto, got mine from Manchester but I'm sure if one branch can do it for £850 they all can. Don't think Superfi will price match over the phone I think you need to go into the store.

just in case you're not aware, Most companies who offer service on out of guarantee products are now only doing it on stuff they sell. This means out of guarantee an internet sourced product will probably not seem like a good deal any more!!!
