Which receiver should I go for, the Yamaha RXV396RDS or the Kenwood KRF-V7030D?

Also I have seen the Yamy advertised in different places. Some places say it offers just DD decoding while others say it offers DD and DTS. Which is true?

According to this link the 396 has Dolby Digital ONLY:
    http://www.yamaha.com/cgi-win/webcgi.exe/DsplyModel/?gAVR00010RX-V396

I assume the confusion is caused by the 5.1 input which is sometimes called "DTS compatible" or similar ... !?

Perhaps if you can stretch your budget opt for the DSP-A5 (comes with DTS decoding) ...
