Receiver - HDMI / Component set-up question

Hello,

I have the Yamaha RX-V661 receiver (there are no HDMI ins/outs) and am setting up:

1) Samsung LCD TV through HD Cable box
2) Xbox360 (used for DVD's as well)

What is the best way to hook-up these components? I realize that HDMI is the best but the receiver only has component ins and outs.

Questions:
1- Is it best to just run all video direct into the TV, and all the audio through the receiver?

2- If I'm doing that, is it therefore a waste to have just spent 300 dollars on a brand new receiver?

3- Will there be a sync/lag issue if the video is going direct and the audio is going through the receiver?

Appreciate any help I can get. Thanks!

Unless your cable HD box has component outputs then you will have to. However I don't see this as such a bad thing.

That would depend on what you were expecting this amp to do and what your previous amp was like?
