I've decided to take the plunge and introduce surround sound to my lounge. Bought the latest copy of WV&TV to get some idea of whats out there. Well it seems to me that there are 2 options:
1) I purchase an AV receiver & separate surround speakers to add to the equipment I already have (dvd player, cd player, ps2 etc.)
2) Discard the dvd player and replace it with a shiny new all in one system
Coming from a hifi separates background I would tend to prefer the first option but can't really be bothered with auditioning the equipment. The all in ones do seem tempting though!
I notice that there are some packages available from panasonic and sony which comprise of a receiver and surround speakers only, for example the panasonic SCHT05 and Sony HT-SL500. Have been unable to find any reviews either in magazines or on the net so I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has used either of these products - either good or bad.
Any similar packages from other manufacturers in the £200-£300 range which are worth considering?
Cheers
