Reavon UBR-X100 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Player Review & Comments

Thanks for the pics, the components look near enough identical.

Yup, even the cheap drive mechanism looks the same.
I am all for more players in the player market, but they need to be priced accordingly as none of the innards on these look premium at all.

I am curious to see the insides of the even more ludicrously priced UBR-X200.

And here's the X100 again: -

Just looked closely and the HDMI board in the 200 is larger than the one in the 100 and appears to be equipped with more ram too.
They should put the same PSU in the 100 as the 200. That way its supposed premium leanings would be a little easier to swallow, if still being overpriced.

I would love to know what SoC is under the heatsinks on these too.
It would be interesting if it is the same as the Oppo's chip (and even more interesting if it has Oppo written on it) or, if it is the same as the LX500/800 instead.

Raveon UBR-X200 is the GIEC BDP-G5800 in the same chassis of the model X100 and without harddisk drawer.
Also the Raveon UBR-X100 is a GIEC BDP-G5700 without any change (expect the name).

Just found another version of GIEC BDP-G5800, appear the same as the X200 except for some differences on analog outs board.

It does make you wonder how many versions of the G5800 there are 😲

Wish these newer players would come with front displays that show more than just time elapsed...one of the many things I dislike about the Panasonics, too.

There is no doubt that the Reavon UBR-X100 is "based" on GIEC BDP-G5300 with a "nicer" shell.

I knew it would be something like this.
The nameless Chinese looking loader/drive and ultra trashy remote control gives away the true price class.

While it's probably "alright", we aren't talking something compatible to the Japanese brands like Sony, Panasonic, Funai etc., no matter how much Reavon charge.

I dislike companies who act like this, but it's always been in the AV world - just ask Currys about their cables!

What's so "ultra trashy" about the Reavons' remotes? Seems to me they're very similar to the Oppos...

Reading the Sound & Vision review now...

Do the Reavons' power LED indicators stay on when the units are turned OFF (so it becomes a standby light) or is it only when they're being used?

How about this one another oppo clone which I just picked up, the ipuk pro uhd8592 + picture off inside

Yeah, there is some stuff in there more commensurate with the price of the reavons. How much is the IPUK then?

Also, when will we see reviews of these other 'Oppo clones'?

Wow, not cheap. The hardware in there looks better than the Reavons, except for the disc mech, which actually looks super cheap and worse than the Reavons. I would say £600 tops for any of these.

€1600 so not cheap

Wowza... Over in this Malaysia store, the 'standard' model is being sold at 3,350.00 ringgit (RM), which is currently around £600.00. And the 'pro' model is being sold at RM6,350.00, which is around £1,130.00. All plus shipping and taxes.

Much the same prices with this other Malaysia store: IPUK UHD8592 (An OPPO UDP-203 lookalike player)

EDIT: New PANNDE PD-6 EU (An Pioneer UDP-LX500/LX800 lookalike) topic.
