Reathouring .MKV files

got a few of these on my system, and ive now bought one of those dual format lg burners

now how do i reauthor the mkv files so they play on my ps3 or standalone samsung bluray player ?

If your .mkv aren't too big you can use "ConvertXtoDVD" to transfer them to regular DVD disks, DVD-5 or DVD-9.

I believe the program turns the files into VOBs and IFOs.



I'd be interested in hearing from anyone on how to "re author" a HD or Blu Ray disk to a .mkv file :D

I found that mkv2vob is a great tool for repackaging mkv's into a "vob" file. It just actually re-encode or reauthor, it basically demuxes the video and audio, then puts them back together in a slightly different package, tricking the PS3 into thinking its a normal vob file (which it isn't, so i've found windows won't play the new file format!!)

Takes about 7 minutes to convert a files thats about a gig in size
