At the moment I`m upgrading to 7.1. Has anyone out there had any experience of what is the best distance between the two rear surround speaker. Looking on the Dolby site they give a distance of 4ft. Seems a little too wide to me if the side surrounds will be only 3ft away from each of the rears. Any comments will be gladly received as I am about to chase out the walls for the speaker cables.

Too difficult to say. Its all going to depend on the width of your room , your seating position and the shape of your room.
The only option is to experiment.
