Rear speaker placement

Should I use stands or wall mount the rear speakers, if wall mount should they be as close to the ceiling as possible.

I don't have the kit yet but am wiring the room up and need to know where to bring the cables out from the walls. My wife doesn'tlike the ideas of using stands which was my original intention. I was going to cable under the floor and bring them out behind the 3 seater settee and then have the rears stand mounted either side of the settee.

I know the answer will depend entirely on what speakers I end up choosing but with the wife to keep happy chances are that the rears will be the smallest and least obtrusive I can find.

Thanks in advance.

positioning they ideally need to be on the side walls about 60cm/90cm above ear height when seated, they can be sited just infront/level or just behind the listening position, I find just infront works well for me.
