    Hello,

I'm considering my options for a rear centre. My rear surrounds are MS902 (soon to be 903) - does the rear centre have to "match" in the same way the front centre matches the front speakers?

Can I use a different centre for the rear? I only ask because room is a bit tight behind the sofa and I'd like to use a smaller centre? And can anyone suggest a small (depth, width doesn't matter) and good centre suitable as a rear?

    Thanks

That never occurred to me! It must have to though, it's exactly the same panning problem...

I'll bear it in mind when adding a centre rear

Would the smaller MS centre match here anyone? I've got *very* limited centre-rear space.

You mean the 304? How does it compare to the 905- sound and size?

The postman has just been and I now have the 903's :)

I've got a 905, it's huge (size of the speaker section of the 906s) and sounds great - but it won't fit in the 6 inches between my head and the back wall of the lounge!

If the 304 tonally matches it'd be good for me, how much rear space do you have?

I'm actually wondering if you could use 2x 905s on their 'side' as front speakers, might try my centre to see how musical it sounds.

mhuk05, do you mind me asking where you got our 903s from and how much they were. I might end up changing my 902 rears too.

@Mango: Yes I have 905 (on top of the TV) and 906's across the front. I've kept the black grille on so it is almost invisible at night with low lighting (but very visible when the halogen downlighters are one!). I have as much space as a sofa pushed up to a radiator will allow (behind/ above my head). The 304 is only £65 so might be worth a try (http://www.321av.com/#MORDAUNTSHORT).

    Anyone compared a 304 to a 905?

@ GFS: I order my 903's from Germany for £111 delivered (still waiting for delivery- they did phone me and told me they were waiting for a delivery in Maple).

ps opened my box the postman had delivered (from Germany)- wasn't my speakers :( but it was my HOFD LE box set :)

pps there's a black pair on Ebay £15 atm:

The 304 is an emminenetly suitable choice for Centre rear use as the tweeter is identical to Avant components, the drivers are identical to the 903 and have similar tonal characteristics to the 5.25's in the Avants.

Thanks for the reply Tons. What are the Avant AW 153 and 162 like (in relation to the above speakers)? Which one is a centre? ;)
