Reading exhaustion!!! Choose a 37 or 42" LCD for me PLEASE!!

Please help me choose a 37/42 inch LCD TV. I will need it mainly for sports/movies so it should be able to handle motion. Should also be HD -Ready
I have been trying to read all the different reviews and am beginningto get very very confused

The 3 TVs that i have considered are Philips 37PF9986/ 42PF9986 and Sharp LC-37GD1E. But i will be happy to receive suggestions on any other models for eg: Hitachi, Sony etc.
Am able to spend upto 2,500 quid or so

I had nearly made up my mind on Philips but a salesman at Selfridges was very critical of Philips LCDs in general and the 37/42 inch models in particular saying that they were really bad (grainy pictures, inability to handle motion) and that is what got me more worried.

On a general note , are 37"TVs better than 42" ones?

Check out the 37" thread on here. good list to start with. Add in the 40" Sony 'V' or 'S' series, and possibly the Samsung 40" as a budget option.

The Toshiba WLT58 series comes in 37 or 42" versions, so you could be flexible if needed.
