Toshiba has told me today that there isn't one single problem reported with these sets and the YUV... :suicide:

very possible, that new production of the wl56 has the yuv-problem sorted ( yuv over vga does NOT work on early production tvs ); anyone with component not working over vga should contact their dealer and/or toshiba to have their tvs swapped over.
    kind regards

Sorry for being thick but, assuming I have YUV coming out of my DVD player, which pins of the VGA Sub D connector do they go to? OR am I missing something?

I have a 32WL56 connected to a PACE digibox and a Tosh RDXS34 DVD Recorder and that will be it until HD is launched.

Given the above does this YUV issue concern me.

Hi all, just took delivery today of my 37wl56 today, only had a chance to hook it up via RGB scart so far but one thing i did notice is that the manual came with an additional extra single sheet saying how to use component via the vga connector - kind of implies that the newer ones have had additional info etc added to them!

First impressions on picture - very good!!

I have had a Tosh 32WL56P for the last weeks but not really an expert on connections, inputs etc. Have just been learning while browsing these forums.

My manual also has a separate inlay about connecting via YUV and I do have the YUV option on my TV ? The inlay calls it PC/YUV audio ? Can I ask a silly question ? Does this mean only the sound will be good quality and the pic will only be as good as say, RGB scart ?

Is HDMI better/worse than component connection ? If I am going to buy a DVD recorder, do I need to make sure it has component and/or HDMI input ?

    Thanks people.

HDMI will be better but it is a little noisy. Other inputs are great and the audio is clean but the audio on the HDMI has some back ground noise.

Has anyone any confidence left in the 32WL56P. Having waded through all the options out there and finally decided on this and then reading about all the problems I'm in doubt. But it is a good price for a 32" with a low response time (10ms I believe)

No worries. The PC AND Component are both on a standard VGA three row 15 pin Compact Sub-D Connector. I.e. the same socket is used for both functions selectable via the menus.

I thought HDMI only outputs video, DVI outputs video and audio?
