    Stop Press!

The waiting is over, I have only gone and done it haven't I!

After 15 months of debate and procrastination I have plumped for the Panasonic TH37PE50PED - my reasons for doing so are these.

Price - at £1243 from Comet Direct this has to be a bargain.

The Panel is not HD Ready I know that - however, to be honest, whilst I would not turn my nose up at Hi Def were it free, that's not going to happen in the short to medium term and there is no way I am prepared to pay out any more than the £35 per month I pay at present to Sky.

I am more than happy with the PQ I receive at present from Sky via RGB and if the Plasma panel can produce similar results then I will be chuffed to bits.

Being an SD panel and not Hi Def, this should in theory mask an inferior source material better than the HD Ready PV500.

I have seen the PE50 running a Hi Def demo through component alongside the PV500 also running a Hi Def demo and if I'm honest my poor old eyes could not detect any difference whatsoever in the PQ - honestly, so if I can't see it then even if its there it doesn't bother me

Whilst I do like the LCD panels, I don't think they handle SD broadcasts with quite the same confidence as the Panny Plasmas.

I think given all the above this t.v. should suit our needs for many years to come, and to be honest I was never going to be happy paying out £2000 + or - the odd few pounds for what after all is to me "just telly".

    Being delivered on 22nd October.

Yet another TH37PE50 buyer! Good choice! Can't wait to join the club. Did you get any extras thrown in, Faust? Such as wall bracket or stand? DVD recorder?

I already have a DMR E30 so did not want a recorder, but I did get a nice glass stand for little money.
