RE44SZ21RD Just died!!

    Well its just died - after just 6-7 weeks. (and the same week my Sky+ box keeled over! :eek: )

    Comet are out to it on thursday morning to come see.

    It just 'popped' and then no power - nothing - the fans do not spin and no leds on the front panel.

    As comet do not do these sets any longer what do you rekon the chances are of me being able to 'upgrade' to one of the more expensive plasma's (another LG i'm afraid - the PX11)

    i cant see it being a problem as it means they are getting more money out of me - what do you rekon.

    Managed to get the engineer to arrange for tues am instead.


    I have gathered some 'evidence' via these (and other forums) to show him that there are problems and i would prefer it if i just got a store credit to buy something else that would be less troublesome.

    will keep y'all updated as and when he has been.

    Store credit? Demand a refund under the terms of the Sale of Goods Act. Say the TV was not of merchantable quality and/or not fit for purpose. DO NOT accept credit, exchange, replacement nor repair as an alternative. And don't believe any garbage they may spout about 28 days, 7 days (or any other quoted timescale), company policy, etc.

    If they won't budge on this, get help from Trading Standards. The threat of this action usually makes unco-operative store Managers co-operate.

    Then you can buy either the same thing again, or something different; and you can buy from the same place or different. Either way, you get a brand new guarantee and brand new consumers' rights.

    Well he came out and listened - didnt look at the set or examine it - he said he has seen 5 recently all with the same fault.

    One of the reasons Comet has stopped selling them.

    It is now in the hands of his managers who will contact me today.

    got a call just now with my store credit number - so the question is .....

    WHAT DO I BUY NOW - UP TO £2000.

    DLP / PLASMA / LCD / CRT - choices - choices.

    part of the agreement of me taking the credit was that they will price match :)

    OK Good enough.......depending on what alternatives they can offer (limited) and exactly who they'll price match with. Normally it's a bricks & mortar within 10 miles (or some such).

    normally, yes,

    but the amount of grief i gave them yesterday, and the quoting of the sales of good act (thanks for the offer) did the trick with the serive manager.

    I gave them the choice of refunding me or giving me a credit and price matching!
