    Looking for a decent receiver as future proof as it can be for £250

    would be working with the Pioneer 656 or the Toshiba 520 have not decided yet

    Hi dobbo, im guessing by 'future proof ' you mean options like 6.1 output (for a true rear centre channel) plus 6 channel input (for DVD-A or SACD input). If so, the Marantz SR4300 is a good option for this sort of money good with both movies and music.

    Might squeeze a dennon 1603/1803 so look around, Yammaha as well are good.

    the yamaha RX-V630RDS is 6.1 and in your price range (online)

    Beg steal or borrow an extra £50 or so & get the pioneer 811 & put it with the 656 - lovely

    You have certainly given me something to think about.

    I had been looking at various receivers and had thought about Yamaha already , but will now take a look at the Marantz, Denon and the Pioneer now.
